One of the biggest events on the London drinks calendar returns to the capital next month.

Now in its seventh year, cocktail bonanaza London Cocktail Week (LCW) is back from 3 to 9 October to show what is moving and shaking the industry.

Many of you will already be signed up to one or more of the trade events.

But just incase, here are some of our top picks to ensure no one is missing out.


Kicking things off on the evening of October 3 is the launch party at Spitalfields Market.

Entry is free, and members of the bartending community are invited to explore The Cocktail Village’s 39 pop-up bars from 5pm. At 9pm, vintage red routemaster will take guests to the second venue, The World Class House at Jewel, Piccadilly Circus.

The Spirits Summit is a one-day conference designed to bring the industry together to discuss some of the future innovations and key challenges facing the category.

Hosted by The Royal Institution of Great Britain, the event kicks off at 10am with an on-trade spirits trends update from Rachel Perryman, director of client services at CGA.

Interactive sessions will run from 1.55 to 3.15pm, before the afternoon tastings and masterclasses begin.

JUJU Bar and Stage at The Old Truman Brewery is playing host to The London Cocktail Week BEAT Society 2016, for three days of masterclasses, talks and panel discussions.

October 4 is Martell Cognac and House of Tequila Day, featuring a look at the “ultimate dessert trolley” with Cognac brand ambassador Matthias Lataille, from 12.30 to 1.30 pm.

Day two, (October 5), is Havana Club Rum Day, celebrating 50 years of the margarita and taking a look at what it takes to open a bar in Cuba.

October 6 rounds of with Pernod Ricard whisk(e)y Day, when cocktail legend Nick Strangeway will experiment with some old Irish punches and Jameson’s Irish.


Back at the Cocktail Village at Spitalfields Market, “shims” - the benefits and creative challenges of low ABV drinks - will be the topic for discussion on October 5.

From 3 to 4.30pm, a masterclass presented by Bramble Edinburgh will focus on fortified wine as a base in cocktails rather than a modifier.
