In case you missed some of the headlines this week on harpers.co.uk, we have put together a review of the top online news, Q&As, and opinion stories.

 

Most Read: There was bound to be some teething problems as the AWRS got underway, and we at Harpers reported that as many as 1,300 wholesalers - 17% of applicants - were denied approval by HMRC. 

Elsewhere, it was predicted that English wine will hit another milestone this year, with one million vines expected to be planted in 2017. 

And Campo Viejo spelled success for Pernod Ricard in the first quarter of 2017. 

 

Spirits: Plenty of news from the world of spirits this week. 

Tequila was outlined by the spirit to watch by the WSTA, after racking up £160m value sales in the on-trade last year. 

Harpers spoke to the motivators behind Brazil’s top spirit - and one of the most consumed spirits in the world - Cachaça, and their aims to follow to Tequila’s lead and make the same impression on the UK market.
